Very round and warm, sporting the classic hallmarks of 80's Japan Analog Synths. On first impression, the sound is familiar to a Roland TR-808 Kick Drum with the longer Decay mod. (The CX-3 signal runs as a send into the EXT-1 of the BPX module, and the BPX output runs into the CX-3 return which is then routed through the Rotary Speaker emulation). It is a stand alone unit and can be run directly to a desk/amplifier from a standard 1/4" Jack, but can also run through the CX-3/BX-3's accessory (effects) loop, which routes the signal via the CX-3/BX-3 Rotary Emulation Circuit.

The BPX-3 is the 1970's/1980's Bass Pedal Module that was marketed alongside the Dual Tier BX-3 Organ. This is an early production model and is stamped 'JAPAN' on the base plate.

****This unit is in good working order however the VCO pitch control pot is unstable toward the end of the sweep (High Frequencies) and could benefit with a replacement. Both FT/SW inputs are wired in parallel to allow patch cable chaining between multiple units so that only one footswitch would be required to mute an entire acoustic drum kit set up.

The FT/SW (footswitch) inputs allow for External On/Off control and simply mute the signal. The module is triggered through vibration and can be hit directly on the casing, but is designed to be clamped on to a drum rim and triggered when the drum is hit (although it could easily be mounted to any number of resonant instruments!). Vintage 1980's Made in Japan - Single Oscillator Drum Percussion Synth Module! In essence it is close kin of a BOSS PC-2 Percussion Synth Pad, with an extra control for Volume and with the Sweep function only operating in a down pitch drop.
